Otherworld Productions is a Waiheke Island community organisation dedicated to supporting and celebrating local entertainment, creativity, and the performing arts.
Founded in 2007 by the late Sallie-Ann Stones, Otherworld became known for its imaginative themed fundraising events in support of a community swimming pool project. Events such as Neptune’s Ball, Pirates Ball, and Wild West Ball transformed spaces through elaborate set design and brought together local musicians, dancers, actors, and performers to create unforgettable immersive experiences.
Over the years, Otherworld has built an extensive and unique costume collection, including pieces from the television series Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules. This remarkable wardrobe has supported countless local theatre productions, school performances, events, and creative projects across the island.
Today, the collection continues to serve the community through costume hire - offering an accessible, affordable, and sustainable way to bring creative ideas to life. Costume reuse and shared resources play an important role in reducing waste and encouraging a more circular approach to fashion and event-making, giving garments a long life through ongoing community use.
Otherworld is now located at Artworks Theatre and welcomes anyone looking for costumes for performance, celebration, dress-ups, or creative expression.
